I will tell you, it was not easy.  But it sure helped that hubby is doing this with me.

The first week of Nutrisystem is the Turbo Takeoff week.  They send you 7 days of Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner as well as Turbo shakes to have one for each mid-morning snack and a Nutri Crush bar to have as an afternoon snack.  Then add in 4 servings of (more…)

What can I say, sometimes life gets in the way of plans.  I had every intention of keeping up with this blog, but if you are still out there you obviously know I haven’t.

Let’s see of I can update you. I think the last time I updated you on our little miracle, he was not yet 2.  Well, our guy turned 4 before Christmas.  Four!  He is in his second year of school.  We started him 2 days a week before he turned 3 and this year he is up to 3 days a week.  He loves it and is thriving.  He loves his letters and numbers and loves telling us what time it is. All. The. Time.  He LOVES Curious George and takes him everywhere we go.  He loves to run around and kick the ball. Just your typical 4 year old and we could not be happier.

Well, I guess that is not entirely true.  This is one reason why I am picking this blog back up again.  I am struggling with something that a lot of people struggle with. Weight.  I would love to say it is baby weight, but I don’t think you would buy that. 🙂  I had managed to lose most of the baby weight a couple of years ago, but life happens and I put some back on.

So tomorrow I start a new journey. One that I have started many a time these past few years.  A journey I have yet to complete.

Tomorrow I start this journey with more of an open mind and open heart than I have had during my other attempts.  I am excited and optimistic.  I love running around with my son and am tired of feeling tired. I am ready to make this happen.

I have signed up for Nutrisystem.  I have always believed that if I wanted something I could do it myself.  I did not need something like this.  I would just eat healthy and exercise. Well, that didn’t seem to work out too well.  So I bit the bullet and did it.

Tomorrow I start the 1st week.  This is called the Turbo Takeoff week.  I am not looking too forward to this week. I did not get to pick the food and you don’t get to eat as much as you would normally be eating starting in week 2.  So getting through this week will be a big hurdle, but like I said I am excited overall.  And to make things even better, hubby signed up with me.  YAY!!  It is going to be so much easier doing this with him.  I am grateful to have the love and support of him on this journey and to be able to support him as well.

So, I decided to get back to blogging to help me be accountable.  Accountable to myself and also to you dear readers, if you are still out there.  I am going to blog every week to keep track of my progress.

My goal is to lose 40 pounds.  I am not going to talk about how much I weigh.  It doesn’t really matter what the number is.  A 40 pound weight loss will get me to where I want to be.  And who knows, maybe I will even lose more.  What matters is the goal.  It is out there now and I will let you know next Friday (unless I am too tired to type because of lack of food) how I did. 🙂  I will write about the good and the bad.  Hopefully more good than bad.

So thanks for sticking with me to those of you who are still there.

Thanks for reading!

Disclaimer:  I have not received anything from Nutrisystem for this blog. I have paid for the program and am blogging for me.

My absence has been a prime example of just how busy life can get and how fast time moves.  Where did the time go?

Let’s see if I can do some catching up.

As I mentioned in the last post, little guy has been walking full steam and just loves playing.  He has also taken to helping with our dog Buddy.  He helps us get him out of his crate in the morning.  Feeds him.  Yes he actually takes the little cup of food, carries it to his bowl and dumps it in and then returns the cup to the dog food container.  So cute!  And now he likes to tag along when we take Buddy out in the morning.  This usually turns into us walking all around the block.  The kid LOVES to walk!

His sleep is great too!  Last time we has just started doing CIO overnight and now he goes down and within about 20 minutes is asleep with no fussing.  Some mornings he is up around 6:30 which is a little tough on us, but we can let him stay in his room for a bit and he will just babble and not fuss.

And he has really taken to the one nap after lunch.  He naps on average of 1 1/2 hours.  Sometimes I can get 2 out him which of course helps me get more stuff around the house done, but even the 1 1/2 is pretty good.  For naps he is usually out in 10 minutes once I put him in his crib.

I am still technically breastfeeding, but I have him down to once a day only in the morning for about 10 minutes.  I am trying to wean him slowly down.  Yesterday he was done after 5 minutes, but today it was back to 10.  On the one hand I will miss it when it is done completely, but on the other, it has been nice to have the freedom to wear regular bras again!  LOL

We also started going to Gymboree once a week.  He really enjoys that!  The first couple of times he pretty much only played with the balls.  But now he will climb on everything and has started to participate more.  It is so fun to watch him and I might add, quite a workout for us!

With fall arriving I am really looking forward to taking him to the pumpkin patch.  We took him last year, but I think he will certainly get more out of it this year as he enjoys everything around him.

He sure has been keeping us busy.  But such a joy and we just love that little guy so much!!!

Another time consumer has been my little ornament business.  I have added some ornaments since my last post.  I have added a couple of more dogs (as a result of a special order), a cat, a cardinal, and more recently football helmets for some of the professional teams.  I have been having so much fun with this and 3 days ago I posted a reminder in one of the Facebook groups in which I am a member and got 10 more orders for the Goldendoodle ornament.  I am loving this!  Again, I have so many ideas in my head, but they will probably have to wait until after Christmas at this rate.  I also signed up for some ad space in a digital Holiday Guide that will come out October 1.  So we will see what happens with that.  If you haven’t checked it out lately, please stop by!

So there you have the update.  I know it doesn’t seem like too much, but with the little guy, the ornaments, and just taking care of the house, etc., the days seem to fly by.  I will try to stay in touch more.  Thank you for sticking around!

I cannot believe it has been almost 2 months since my last post.  (Hangs head in shame.)

All I can say is, life happens.  Let’s see if I can do some catching up.  I am so behind on my weekly challenges.  I will catch up, even if it means I will need to do 3 in one week. 🙂

Little guy is doing well.  We had his 15 month check up back at the beginning of April and he is doing well!  He was 33 inches long and 26lbs 10oz.  He was in the 98th percentile for height and 90th percentile for weight.  Poor guy got 2 shots, one in each leg, but 2 nurses came in and they did them at the same time so he did not have to get stuck and then stuck again.  I was glad about that.  He did cry but as soon as I picked him up he was ok.  Such a brave boy.  We go back for his 18 month check in July.

He is walking now and really starting to babble.  He is such a happy guy, but does get fussy now and then like most toddlers do.  We were still having sleep issues and talked to the doctor and he suggested that we do cry it out in the middle of the night.  He had started waking up 2-3 times at night and it was getting really tough for me to get up with him and nurse him back to sleep.  So that evening we did CIO when he woke up around midnight and he cried for almost an hour (I cried a little too) but then he slept great.  The next 2 nights he woke up and cried for just about 5 minutes.  Now he sleeps through the night from about 7:30-8pm to around 7:30am.  It is so great!

We just started transitioning him to one nap from 2.  He had been doing 2 naps really well, but then he started not doing the afternoon nap or doing really short naps, so about 10 days ago I just started with the one nap a bit after lunch.  It varies from 1 to 1.5 hours.  My goal is to get him to take at least a 2 hour nap so I can have some time to get some things done around the house.  We will see if he cooperates.  The other day he only did 30 minutes, so we are still working on it.

All in all things are going well.  With him being more mobile he is taking more of my time now, which is ok with me!  He also plays well by himself for a bit so I can get some things done here and there.

I also finally got around (in April) to heading out the library to sign myself up for a library card so I can sign up for the story time they have for babies.  But wouldn’t you know it the program was in its last week!  It starts up again in June.   I think he will enjoy that.

My little felt ornament side business is doing well.  That has also kept me away from here for a bit catching up on special orders.  I have so many ideas for ornaments in my head that I need a solid week to just make the patterns and the ornaments so I can list them in my shop (but that won’t happen).  I was able to get a couple of patterns made and now I just need to find some time to make the ornaments to post.    If you haven’t checked it out, please stop by:

Well, that is about all I have for today.  Gonna try to get back to my weekly challenge.   I actually have 2 that I did, but have not had time to post about yet.  Look for those to come.

2014 pinterest challenge – week 10 March 16, 2014

This week we head back to my new Etsy shop.  Again, I don’t have a specific Pinterest Pin to refer to, but this was a challenge along the lines of Week 8 and coming up with an ornament that would appeal to a larger audience.

We have a Goldendoodle named Buddy, as you know.  I am a member of a Facebook group of Goldendoodle owners.  We all got our doodles from the same breeder and this gave me an idea.  I designed an ornament based on Buddy and added it to my Etsy shop with options for different colors and personalization.  It has been a week since I did this and it is by far my best seller!  I have enjoyed creating these ornaments and personalizing so much!  It gets a little challenging at times finding times to work on them around taking care of little guy and keeping up with the house, but I absolutely LOVE it!  I think this will continue to be a best seller for me and definitely as we approach Christmas I see this really taking off!

Here is the listing:

Please stop by and check it out!  I also had 3 of my other ornaments sell, so in addition to the doodles, I need to make more of the regular ornaments!  What fun!!!  I am really enjoying having this little business and can’t wait to see how it grows!

I know I am late in posting this but here goes.

So I decided upon this Pin – Crock-pot Chicken Corn Chowder

I made it the way I was supposed to and upon tasting it, all I could taste was the cream corn.  I was so disappointed.  I thought I would try to add more flavor so I put some chicken bullion in it and thought it was ok then, still not great.  I put it away to try the next day and WHOA was it salty!  Too salty!  What the heck happened?  I honestly could not eat it.  It was horrible.

I took no pictures and unfortunately we did not end up eating it.

It was bound to happen.  Not all of them will be winners and this one was not!

Back to the drawing board, I mean Pinterest board.

lil’ guy update . . . March 3, 2014

Filed under: Baby — nowandevermore @ 3:08 PM

I realize that I haven’t updated about our little guy this year.  I have been focused on so many things.  I need to get back to having some periodic updates as he was the reason for this blog to begin with.

On Feb 21, he turned 14 months old!  He is doing great!  He is 32 inches long and just over 25 pounds!  He is not walking yet, but I do think it will be soon.  He can get up and will walk if you hold his hand or he holds on to something.  But he knows he can get from point A to point B faster by crawling and boy does he crawl fast!  I try to temp him with the ball (that he LOVES) by holding it up high so he as to be standing and then I try to get him to walk towards me, but he either grabs onto something or squats and then crawls.  He will get there in his own time and I am not worried.  We will see the doctor just after he turns 15 months and if he isn’t walking by then we will be able to talk with him about it.

He is such a great eater too!  He pretty much eats whatever I give him.  We visited my parents last week and my Mom mashed up an avocado.  I had given him one a few months back and he seems to like it, but not this time.  He did have a little struggle with some of the squashes.  But I put just a teeny tiny bit of butter on them and he ate them right up.  He now gets 3 bottles of cow’s milk everyday.  I do have to warm it.  If it isn’t warm enough he ends up not drinking it and playing with the tip of the sippy bottle.  I am still breastfeeding.  I know he probably isn’t getting a lot from me but as long as he still wants it I will give it.  I stopped pumping a week ago.  I was manually pumping twice each night about 1.5 hours apart and maybe getting 1 to 1.5 ounces each night, if I was lucky.  So every 5-7 days I would have enough for one bottle.  This just didn’t seem worth it and it really became a chore that I just really didn’t like doing.  If I was busy working on one of my ornaments I would even forget sometimes and then have to pump late.  Let me tell you I don’t miss that.  I do still love being able to breastfeed and I do like that he still wants to do it.  He doesn’t’ really bite me but he does sometimes “pop” off quickly while still “holding” on and that is a little painful.  I made it past my first goal of 6 months and past my 2nd goal of 1 year.  The rest is icing. 🙂

He is becoming pretty vocal although he isn’t saying any words yet.  I will tell him to say something when he is eating, (ie. “Can you say Green Bean?”) while holding the fork with the green beans in front of him and he will vocalize something.  So I think he is learning about conversations and how one person talks and the other answers.  It did kind of sound like he repeated apple to me at lunch today.  At least that is what I am telling myself. 🙂

Sleeping is so so.  He has about a week that he was getting up 2-4 times a night.  Although the last 2 nights it has only been once.  We are trying the cry it out because we know he can go all night.  I hate hearing him cry, but I know he is ok.

That is basically it for the updates.  He is such a joy and I cannot say enough how much I love that little man!  He is so great at giving kisses.  Although he still does it a lot with his mouth open.  I ask him for kisses and he comes in like he is going to bite me.  He has 8 teeth now, by the way.  During our little bedtime routine after we say prayers, I tell him a few things and he gives me like 4-5 kisses in a row all by himself!  I just love that!
